What prompted you to choose a career in fashion/modeling?
Since childhood, I wanted to do something different and exciting. In my thought process, it has always been there to be the change, to be the influencer to whom people would look up to and start working for their dreams. My dream of becoming extraordinary prompted me to choose this career.
How has your journey been so far?
I come from very conservative family background, and my journey has been a roller coaster, from struggling to pursue modeling as a career, and also to become Miss India Earth 2018. Working hard on me every day with lot of patience and perseverance led to where I am today. Still, there’s so much more to achieve.
Do you follow a specific fitness regimen/diet?
My advice will be to follow a regular workout routine. If one cannot do that because of busy schedules, then he/she should at least do brisk walking for at least 20 minutes daily. Also, one should take lots of fluids, especially water, and have a good sleep of 7-8 hrs for the proper functioning and rejuvenation of our bodies.
What aspects of modeling life in your opinion gets ignored the most by regular people/viewers?
Being a model, I would love to answer this question. Modeling life is not that easy as how people think. It takes a lot of hard work to be eye candy and a lot of perseverance. It’s not just wearing beautiful clothes and walking the ramp. People don’t see the hard work and chaos that happens backstage to put up a fabulous show.
If you’ve to name one beauty queen who inspires you the most, who would it be and why?
It’s hard to choose one when we have so many inspirational queens. I would name my two most favourites- Sushmita Sen and Priyanka Chopra.
Both for different reasons – Sushmita Sen is someone I look up to as she is really humble. She is a person who inspired me to be good and see good in every person. You have to be peaceful inside to see peace in the world around you.
Priyanka Chopra showed that there are no barriers in life that if a woman is determined and stubborn enough to achieve her dreams, she can achieve everything she wants. She is a great example of self-made, successful, independent, and strong woman. She is the true example of having the courage to run against the flow and define her own paths which are different from the stereotype.
What do you think is the biggest problem or challenge of the Indian modeling industry right now?
Competition is everywhere, in every field, and the Indian modeling industry is no different. There is a lot of talent in India, hence the biggest challenge to stay in the industry is to always give your best, I mean always, and strive to stand out in the crowd.
