Namrata Joshipura for Spring Summer 2012 takes us close to the grey-city culture. The rigid forms are highlighted in metallic shades. These textures are very well portrayed through embellishments that appear realistic and almost alive.
The shapes are modernistic, ranging from backless lapel jackets to highly embellished hot pants. The palette chosen by the designer moves across greys, whites and blacks. The metallic look is very well combined with placid white as base. There are transparent print surfaces highlighted with silver. Adding to the effect are self prints, which are highlighted with tonal sequin work. The trousers are parallel with highlighted side seams. The dresses overlap and are fastened with embellished tie belts.
Amidst all what is rigid, placid and structured, there is a feel of nostalgia depicted very well with orange shade, which brings back the warmth. The floral patterns are circular as well angular, keeping the required balance. It’s a flashback from the depth of valleys.
