In an Industry where you are as old as your last collection, Jatin dared to tread. With St Colombus as his alma mater, he graduated with a Diploma from Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi.

Design Theory

Jatin “walks on the wild side”. He believes that even while conforming to social norms and restrictions, you can express the wildness within you through the clothes that you wear. In each season while putting his collection together, he makes sure that one element in the garment does take that one thing out that everybody hides – WILDNESS.

Achievements & Participation

In the year 1997, part of the Ritu Beri Fashion Fraternity, went on to win 2 out of the 3 awards – Oracle Designer 97 for the Most Creative Collection and the Evian Designer 97 for the Most Commercially Viable Collection. Another participation with Ritu Beri came along with the launch of the Volkswagen car at Hyatt. He also designed and forecasted for Trends ContextIndia at Mumbai, an event organized by Clothesline group.

 

Work Profile : In 1999, he moved on to join Mexx Holding International, a Holland based company, under the aegis of Sir Ratan Chadha. He thoughtfully crafted his career, as he goes his garments and went on to launch his very own label in December 2001. A label amongst labels in the market satiated with designer goods, Jatin brought out a refreshing range in cotton ribbed sweaters, in welcoming colors and urban pattern. The trend caught on and he began supplying to leading stores in Delhi including model Ruchi Malhotra’s store One at Shopper Stop.

Headed for success in Winter 2002, “Jatin Varma” label invaded the metropolitans Delhi, Mumbai, Pune & Bangalore along with ShopperStop with breathtaking ranges of Cotton Sweaters, Shirts, T Shirts for men. Moving ahead, in 2004, “Jatin Varma” launched in the Lifestyle Stores nationally.

Young was the look that invaded the cities with a lot of glitz and glamour – his prêt line for women got added. 2005 saw a new venture with Pyramid Mega Store – a line that would be available through out Delhi, Mumbai, Pune & Nagpur. Simaaya Kolkatta & Issis, Bangaloregot added to the list in Summer 2005 also.

 

The Year Ahead Along with retailing the brand Jatin Varma, leveraging his skills also evolved with the Design Cell being asked to Design and Produce Lines for the in-house brands of  ShopperStop – Kashish & Classic; as well as Lifestyle Stores – Moiree.

WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK – Aw-06/07

“Sparkle and Shine”This High fashion prêt and diffusion women’s line is all about pearls and glitter, crystals and shimmer. Inspired by the rebellious lifestyle of a glitzy princess who enjoys all the royalty & glamour but is too carefree and wild to be abide by the law. This line showcases series of garments reflecting her various moods and occasions. Highlights of this line revolve around luxurious velvettes, furs, silks combined with electrifying gold prints and embellishments. An amalgamation of different styles and looks this collection can be teamed in various exiting ways to suit a variety of occasions , be it a wedding or a night of clubbing.
