Geisha Designs is an India based luxury lifestyle brand that has translated the ancient yet very modern world of today into garments. A design philosophy that epitomises style and focuses on fine craftsmanship, utility and refinement, binds Shalini Jaikaria and Paras Bairoliya, the duo behind the label. Launched in January 2001 Geisha Designs personifies beauty with ultra feminine élan.

The duo use western pattern making principles to re-create traditional Indian silhouettes. Both Paras and Shalini love to fashion unique styles with an emphasis on silhouettes and delicate embroidery to create a distinctive old-world romantic look. Creative and un-conventional use of traditional materials like beads, sequins and thread take a 3- dimensional form to craft striking textures and motifs that are vibrant and bold in nature. Emphasis is laid on hand detailing and seam finishes to make the garment beautiful inside out.

The designs are crafted for a city-bred girl and echo elegance, feminity and romance. Sophisticated tastes of today’s women are reflected in the occasion and daywear creations from the label.

This new way of looking at Indian fashion, the passion for design in combination with precision in details gave immediate success to the brand. Geisha Designs recently showcased its Autumn Winter ’11 collection at  Atmosphere’s, Paris , BBEH (British Bridal Exhibition, Harrogate, UK) & Who’s Next , Dubai, UAE.  Geisha Designs is also a member of FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) and show cases its collections bi-annually at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.

Paras and Shalini are both graduates from NIFT, New Delhi and have won many awards and distinctions academically and professionally. Shalini being an MBBS before taking on as a fashion designer is dexterous with techniques and detail while Paras brims with creative exuberance and has won many accolades and distinctions starting from being awarded the Best Designer of the year at NIFT on graduation.

Paras and Shalini won the “Rohit Khosla award for the best debutante designer” at the F awards. Geisha Designs also got nominated for the Lycra MTV Style Awards .
