Gautam Gupta recently showcased his new collection ‘METAMORPHOSIS’ at Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2018. The collection is an inspiration drawn from the ever changing society of today. From a male dominated era to equal rights for women, from offline expanse of land to a digital world.
METAMORPHOSIS, is an embodiment of indigenously fabric crafted by merging “Eri Silk yarn and Mulberry Silk yarn ”. The hand-woven patterns are distinct reminiscence of the French Art Deco. The looks comprise of comfortably fitted silhouettes such as trench coats, capes, jackets and dresses with a hint of layering and overlapping. There is a distinct appeal to the collection with a bold usage of eclipse blue and vivid hues of violet grey and white.
After working on textiles for Indian wear label for past 7 years, designer Gautam Gupta has introduced Autre – ready to wear line with handmade textiles. Autre means different aims to work on reinventing our vintage crafts for today’s millennial. Designer Gautam Gupta says “If proper research and development is done with our existing structure and techniques of various clusters we can develop some splendid piece of work and lot new stories can be narrated. This way we not only ensure developing conscience fashion but also make design in India a reality”.
