Legendary singer Bappi Lahiri breathed his last on Tuesday and died in his daughter Rema’s arms. He had developed numerous illnesses post Covid and was also heard of dealing with Obstructive sleep apnea.
“Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight,” Dr Deepak Namjoshi, told PTI.
Murmuring the epic song “I am a disco dancer” and “Jimmy Jimmy” …Bappi Lahiri will always be remembered as the singer who gave a new meaning to the world of music and especially was a gift to the Bollywood industry. He changed the notion of sweetness in music and brought Disco, spunk and passion into the world of cinema.
Bappi Lahiri, the singer-cum-composer, composed his first song when he was just 11 years old. The vibrancy and finesse in his music is why his songs are still being used by the Indian film industry.
Bappi Lahiri trademarked his entire look; his gold chains that he considered very lucky, bracelets, velvety cardigans and glares were all inspired from Elvis Presley whom he considered as a master.
His untimely death at the age of 69 has shocked the entire nation with thoughtful messages and condolences pouring in from everywhere on social media.
The last rites will be performed by his son Bappa Lahiri who is returning from Los Angeles, US to bid final good bye to his father.
