The 13 shortlisted contestants were Kanika Seth, Ishan Mazumdar, Mehendi Sharma, Umesh Kumar, Riya Mondal, Lalit Senger, Aniket Satam, Kritika Gupta, Astha Narang, Aradhana Dutta, Vaibhav, Mazhar Khan and the surprise entry Dhruv Singh.
The theme for the preliminary rounds this season – ‘Design for your icon’ – was all about celebrating one’s muse or inspiration. Design hopefuls submitted a sketch of an original design for their icon along with a concept note. Shortlisted semi-finalists were invited to Delhi to present their design portfolio to the judges for further consideration. The high quality of submissions resulted in the judges increasing the total number of finalists from 12 to 13. The selected 13 finalists will remain in Delhi at a ‘Reality House’ to compete in a series of challenges specially designed to highlight the many facets of cotton in the reality series ‘Let’s Design’, which will air on Zoom entertainment channel.
“We’re proud and excited to be heading into our Fourth Season of Let’s Design”, said Ms. Agnieszka Fijol, CCI Representative (Programme Head – India), “The quality of entries this year were extremely high, making the selection of the finalists extremely difficult. I think this just reinforces what an exciting time it is for the Indian fashion and textile industries. It’s also great to see young designers interested in incorporating cotton into their designs and in finding new and innovative applications for cotton. This type of creativity will go a long way to helping ensure a strong future for the cotton industry.”
Said jury member Shantanu Mehra, “Nikhil and I are delighted to be a part of Season 4 of Let’s Design. We met some very talented young designers today and it was difficult to select just 13. Based on what we’ve seen so far I think we can expect some very strong competition in the show.”
This year a record 1493 entries has been received CCI for this event.
