Runway Rising

RUNWAY RISING is the maiden exhibition organized by Famous Socialite and entrepreneur Ramola Bachchan along with Exhibitions India in Delhi and has been conceptualized as a showcase for New-Age Designers to show their innovative collections in time for the festive season.
The Exhibition will take place in the elegant Viceregal Hall at the Claridges Hotel , Auragnzeb Road on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th October 2012
In this exhibition 30 handpicked designers who represent new talent on the fashion scene are going to participate in this exhibition. These include Mayyur Girotra with this season’s wedding collection, Dabiri with its beautiful traditional wear, glamorous cocktail dresses` by Ami Grewal from Goa, Sanjana Jon’s fusion evening wear , Divya Burman, Zarri Gotta’s festive wear, and many more. Other attraction will include ISAAC, the leading Wellness & Anti-Ageing Centre providing free Face & Body Analysis.
“There are many such shows taking place these days in Delhi and around the country but the problem for young upcoming designers is that they either face barriers to entry if the show is an established one or they can get lost in the crowd in the very big shows.
We wanted to put together a show with a difference so we kept it compact in order that our chosen designers get the focus and attention they deserve”, Says Ramola
We plan to offer this as a platform for the new-age designers that proliferate in India, many of whom will be names to reckon with in the fashion scene of the future.
After living in London for almost twenty years, Ramola Bachchan returned to settle down in Delhi in 2007.

During her time in the UK, Ramola got involved in a variety of activities.
Already holding a degree in English Literature and Politics from the Kolkata University, she attended Business School in UK and then went on to qualify and practice as a Lawyer in London.

In the meantime the media beckoned, and Ramola was invited by a British Asian Network to host her own shows on their network both for Television and Radio. This offered her the opportunity of interviewing international personalities from
the fields of Politics, Sports and Culture such as British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Lord Swaraj Paul, Imran Khan, Barbara Cartland, Vikram Seth amongst others. She also did some journalism writing for publications such as the UK edition of the Asian Age and various British magazines.

Ramola later ran her own Public Relations firm RB Promotions in London promoting business and the arts between UK, Europe and India.

Alongside, Ramola immersed herself in fund-raising for charities to support causes related to helping the under-privileged in India.
As well as chairing a number of high profile charity events in London like the ‘Ravi Shankar Concert for Peace’ at the Royal Albert Hall and ‘Tarun Tahiliani’s fashion show’ for AID’S at the Dorchester Hotel. Ramola also anchored events for charities like the NSPCC and the Womens India Association and fundraised for NGOs such as PRATHAM and CRY International.
In 2007, after moving base to Delhi, Ramola set up and ran the high-profile restaurant Manre for several years along with co-owner KD Singh .
In 2011, she sold her stake in Manre and joined A. D. Singh of Olive as a working partner to take care of their two Delhi outlets, Olive at the Qutub and Olive Beach . She was also appointed Director of Sales for Olive in Delhi.In early 2012, Ramola left Olive to set up her own Marketing and Consulting Company called Ra Marketing, where she also did restaurant consulting, setting up the stylish Visionniare Café in Gurgaon for the Paras Group.
Currently, Ramola has partnered with Exhibitions India to organize a series of Consumer Exhibitions, the first of which is Runway Rising to promote new talent in the fashion and lifestyle space. Runway Rising will take place on 18/19th October 2012 at the prestigious Claridges Hotel in New Delhi
Since moving to India,Ramola has also been on the board of the NGO Khushii where she played an active part in fund-raising for the betterment of the downtrodden in society and has been involved in fund-raising for a number of other NGOS such as Plan India and Save the Children Fund.
